Linksys SPA 2102 and SPA 3102 ATA Auto-Configuration Guide

The below instructions will walk the account administrator through setting up a Linksys* SPA2102 or 3102 ATA for a fax machine or user.  These instructions assume an extension for your fax machine or user is already setup.  The admin can easily add an extension if one does not exist.  Please note that fees are associated with the addition of new extensions.

*Linksys was purchased by Cisco. These devices are also referred to as Cisco phones.

          Usage Tips & Trouble Shooting

          • To access useful commands on the ATA device, connect a phone to it
            • Use a phone handset, a fax handset, or plug in an analog phone
            • To access the menu, Press star 4 times (****)
            • It is not necessary to have a dial tone to access the menu or act on menu options
          • To reset the ATA device, you must first connect a phone to the adapter
            • Connect a phone to the adapter
            • Then enter four stars (****) through the phone
            • Then enter 73738#
            • Press 1# to confirm and then hang up
            • Resetting the device restores factory settings
          • To get the IP address, enter star four times to access the menu, then enter 110# into the phone. (Have pen and paper ready to write down the IP address).
            • The IP address is announced to you via the handset
          • Unlike most phones, the Linksys does not retry if it can't get to the ftp server, so it may be necessary to reboot the device several times before the auto configuration works
          • For the initial login, the user name = user; the password = the FTP password from above
          • For the advanced login, the user name = admin; the password = the FTP password from above.
          • If you can't get to the Web Interface using the IP address, it probably means that Web Admin Access and WAN Access are turned off (which is the factory default); to turn them back on:
            • To enable Web Admin Access:  Enter four stars, then enter 723646#, then 1#, then 1 to save (1# is enabled, 0# is disabled)
            • To enable WAN Access: Enter four stars, then 7932#, then 1 #, then 1 to save (1# is enabled, 0# is disabled)
