IP Phone Configuration

For a quality VoIP experience, Aptela service requires SIP phones and a “VoIP ready” network. At your request, Aptela Technical Engineers will provide a network assessment to ensure that your network is optimized for a quality VoIP experience. The assessment provides general installation support and suggestions for non-Aptela equipment

Because customer network environments are different and hardware options are endless; Aptela cannot provide focused client network troubleshooting and support. In some cases, depending on your network configuration, it might be necessary for you contact a professional network administrator.

Phone Installation & Management

In order for an employee to make and/or receive calls using a phone, or to send and/or receive faxes using a traditional fax machine, an extension must be established for the employee or fax machine and a phone or ATA device must be associated to the extension.  If the extension does not exist, the Account Adminstrator will need to add it.  If equipment is needed, the Admin will need to purchase the necessary device.

Before installing phones, identify the phone you will assign to each employee then refer to our easy-to-following phone configuration instructions.

Configuring Multiple SIP Devices to an Extension

An extension can only have up to two SIP devices configured to it – this includes desk (SIP) phones, softphones, multi-line configurations, and expansion models.  Some employees, who also work from home, need a phone in the office and their home office locations and this is a great solution for them.  However, attempting to configure a new phone to an extension that has two SIP devices registered to it will fail.
