Blacklisting a Phone Number

Aptela’s blacklist feature is useful for blocking unwanted callers from calling your company.  “Unwanted” callers can be callers who block their caller ID information or callers who continue to call your company after being asked to stop.

Only the administrator can block calls.
  1. Log into the administrator account at my.aptela.com.
  2. Click My Account at the top of the page.
  3. Click the Blacklist tab.
  4. To block ALL unknown/anonymous callers, check the box for Block callers with no caller ID.
  5. To block SPECIFIC calls, click Add, type in the 10-digit phone number of the caller you wish to block, and then click Save.

At anytime, you can re-allow calls by un-checking the box, or by disabling or deleting the number from the list.

TIP: Only block ALL “anonymous” calls if you are sure that the majority, if not all, of them are from people you do not wish to receive calls from.  Blocking all calls rashly can prohibit potentially “allowable” people from reaching you if their caller ID is unexpectedly blocked because of a sending carrier.
