General SIP Phone Configuration Settings

All SIP phones require basic configuration settings to work with Aptela.  
We provide specific phone configuration instructions for various SIP device manufacturers and/or models.  To view the list, click here.    If we do not have instructions for your device, please consult your phone manufacture's documentation then use the following information to configure your phone.  
Register the phone's MAC address with Aptela
The first step of phone configuration is to register the SIP device’s MAC Address with Aptela.  This step does not apply for Softphones.
 
1. Turn the body of the phone over to expose the back of the unit.
2. Locate a white sticker with a serial bar and a long string of letters and numbers beginning with 000.  This is the phone MAC Address.
3. Log into the Aptela account as the user or admin: my.aptela.com 
a. Users: Click on My Account at the top of the page then My Info tab.
b. Administrators: Double-click on the user extension you would like to assign your phone to.
4. Type the MAC Address in the Phone MAC Address field.
5. Click Save.
Enter the necessary phone configuration settings
After registering the MAC Address, enter the configuration settings where requested for your device.
· Domain / Proxy / Gateway: a5prodsbc.aptela.com
· Proxy Port: 5060
· Outbound Proxy: a5prodsbc.aptela.com
· Outbound Port: 5060
· Display Name: Your Name
· User Name and/or Authorization User Name: username.clientID
o This is the user name and client ID you use to log into your Aptela account, separated by a period.  Example: bob.abccompany
o If you do not know your user name or client ID, see your account administrator.
· Password: 16-character string made up of letters and numbers.  It is the SIP Password located in the Aptela admin account.
o This is not your Aptela account password. 
o The account administrator can access the SIP Password by logging into Aptela as admin, clicking on My Account at the top of the page then the Account Info tab.
o If you are not the account admin, see them to get this info.
· Voicemail: sip:voicemail@aptela.com
· Codec: G.729 or G.711
· Packet Size: 80-100 kbyte per second
· Re-register or Expire Time: 300 seconds

Register the phone's MAC Address / ID with Aptela

    1. Locate the phone's MAC Address / ID. The MAC Address / ID is is usually located on the back of the phone on a white sticker with a serial bar.
    2. Log into Aptela at my.aptela.com.
      • Users: Click My Account at the top of the page, then click the My Phones tab.
      • Admins: Click on the user you would like to assign the phone to, and then click the Edit Phones button
    3. Click Add a Phone.
    4. Type in the MAC Address / ID in the MAC Address field.
    5. For Phone Type, select the manufacturer of your phone. If your manufacturer is not listed, choose “Other”.
    6. Click Add Phone.

      Standard Configuration Settings

      • Domain / Proxy / Gateway: a5prodsbc.aptela.com
      • Proxy Port: 5060
      • Outbound Proxy: a5prodsbc.aptela.com
      • Outbound Port: 5060
      • Display Name: Your Name
      • User Name and/or Authorization User Name: username.clientID
