To change an extension type, the admin must first delete the extension that needs changed and then create a new one for the desired type. For example, to change a User to a Phone extension, delete the User and then create a new Phone extension.
If applicable, custom settings, such as voicemail greeting, additional Find Me List entries, Call Screening, etc. will need to be reestablished for the new extension.
When deleting an extension:
- The extension will permanently be removed from the Aptela service, and the extension’s call history, including voicemail and faxes, will be erased. Please save any information before pressing Delete.
- If the extension has a phone number or Menu option assigned to it, you must reassign the necessary setting(s) to another destination to delete the extension. Be sure to reassign the setting(s) to the new extension after creating it.
When calling into support or submitting a web ticket to perform these tasks, be prepared to provide the administrator security answer.
