Toll-Free Number as Outbound Caller ID

An Outbound Caller ID can be customized for user extensions. Users may select any active number associated with the account, including a toll-free number.

The most common use case is an outbound call center who wants to display their inbound toll free number for a product/service as their Outbound Caller ID to assist with awareness and encourage return calls to the toll-free number.

Aptela discourages customers from using a toll-free number as your Outbound Caller ID. Many enterprise companies and companies with advanced IVR systems block inbound calls displaying a toll-free number. The result is that some calls may not successfully connect.

When a toll-free number is selected for a user extension's Outbound Caller ID, 7-digit dialing will be based on the account's default caller ID number. An account's default caller ID cannot be set to a toll-free number.
