Making Video Calls - Beta

Aptela is testing the use of video calls on our network. Aptela supports on-net video calls where the same video client (phone, softphone) is used. For example -  two employees, both of whom are using the Skype.  Calls can work between an employee and another Aptela customer, but they must be using the same video phone.

To make a video call:

  • Dial 4*ext   (example 4*102)
  • If the called extension doesn’t have a video phone, the call will revert to a voice call

Aptela video calls only support the H.264 codec.

Customers have reported success using the following video softphones/endpoints:

  1. Skype
  2. Counterpath’s Bria softphone

Please report your feedback or trouble issues to beta@aptela.com. Please be sure to include the following information for trouble reports:

  • Client ID
  • Extension number
  • Client ID and extension number of the other party
  • Video phone/softphone used
